ARTIST CHIT CHAT with Georgie of Lordy Dordie Art
1. How long ago did you start Lordy Dordie Art?
I have been a practicing Artist for over 25 years now, though I started to give my creative business "Lordy Dordy" a red hot go back in 2016. Most of my earliest memories were of being creative in some way or another, everything I did was fuelled by my desire to create, and the joy I felt in the process. I have always known Art would somehow define me and be a huge part of my life and career; hence it’s a huge part of who I am and what I am driven to do. Back In the 90’s (eeekkk a long time ago!) I studied Fine Art & Fashion Design, I look back on those days fondly as they were amazing courses to study and truly cemented my love for art, fashion and design.
2. What/Who/Where do you draw inspiration for your art from?
I am very lucky to have my studio in my home & where inspiration is all around. My studio is filled with colourful trinkets, artworks, fabrics & paints to inspire me when I am needing inspiration! I am also endlessly inspired by nature, in particular flowers. Nature combines splendid shapes and colours with such diversity and brings fresh ideas and perspectives to my artworks. Another prominent visual component in my Art is colour, I use colour to breathe life & heart in my artworks, people connect with colour! I find colour adds that extra something into my artworks that no other element can bring. I also love to convey a positive, joyful and happy message in my artworks and I hope this message shines through!
3. What is your favourite piece from the new Pipedream collection?
Hard to choose, but the front runner is the new Smock Dress - literally everything I love in a dress is in this dress and super comfy as well!
4. What are 3 of your favourite things to see/eat/do in Brissy?
4. What are 3 of your favourite things to see/eat/do in Brissy?
Wandering through Paddington....I'm lucky to live in such a beautiful suburb and love nothing more than strolling through the shops, (especially Thousand Island Dressing, Bristle and Empire Revival) & grabbing a coffee along the way. Totally spoilt for choice!
I only just discovered "Naim" (also in Paddington), I am really not sure why that restaurant hasn't ever been on my radar but it's a taste sensation and now a firm favourite for a whole family! Also love love love Eat Street at Portside, wish we could get there more often!
I'm a frequent visitor to the Cultural precinct in Southbank, especially (you guessed it) GOMA and QAG and often take a morning off by myself for an injection of creativity.
5. Coriander, yay or nay?
