ARTIST CHIT CHAT with Shuh.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hello I'm Shuh Lee! I live in Melbourne. My all time favourite colour is indigo blue but I also love soft pink, forest green and bright yellow. When I have free time, I like to do some stitching for my felt artworks, paint or cook up something delicious. My favourite food is Nasi Lemak, it's a Malaysian dish and I ate it almost every day for school lunch. I would run to the canteen to make sure that I could be first in line!
My inspiration comes from my life experiences. I started designing properly when I was at college and then left Malaysia to live in Melbourne when I was 20. The food, books, movies, and art of my childhood now mix with all the experiences from my Melbourne life and this inspires my work in sometimes unexpected and exciting ways!
5. What’s your mantra for 2021?

2. If you weren’t an artist running your own small business, what would you be doing?
That would be unimaginable as I couldn't find anything else I want/feel like doing. If I was forced to, I would like to either run a tofu shop, or be a gardener.
3. When did you start designing and where do you draw inspiration from?
My inspiration comes from my life experiences. I started designing properly when I was at college and then left Malaysia to live in Melbourne when I was 20. The food, books, movies, and art of my childhood now mix with all the experiences from my Melbourne life and this inspires my work in sometimes unexpected and exciting ways!
4. Do you collaborate with other creatives often? What’s your favourite things about collaborating?
I try to collaborate whenever I can. I love collaborating because I get to work on my creativity with other makers and get to see my work on products that I don't normally do. I always learn from and draw inspiration from people I collaborate with. I think collaboration is healthy and necessary for any thriving artistic scene.
Keep doing what you love. Take care of yourself and others.
